LG to Feature 20.7-megapixel Sensor and Advanced OIS

  LG is a company that has risen from being a manufacturer a lot of people were worried about making the Nexus 4 to being mentioned in the same sentences as Samsung, Motorola, HTC and Sony. 

  No longer is LG a company people think of last when purchasing an Android smartphone, now it’s a first-choice manufacturer. The G2 and G3 have of course been the main reasons for their newfound success and reputation in the mobile arena and their cameras have been some of the best out there. A new rumor details a new camera sensor that could be destined for next year’s LG flagship.

  While it’s of course too early to be talking about LG’s next flagship device with confidence, it’s always nice to get a glimpse of what’s ahead. During the Korea Electronics Show, LG showed off a new camera module of theirs that features a 20.7-megapixel sensor and improved Optical Image Sstabilization For those astute readers, you’ll have realized that 20.7-megapixels is the same resolution as the Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3 line of devices, but there’s no telling whether or not the sensor is of a similar design or even origin. 

  The OIS part of this is interesting as the new module features a larger correction angle of 0.7 which is a little bit better than the G3’s 0.5 correction angle. A larger correction angle means more compensation for movement when stabilizing for image capture.
